There is no doubt that Dublin is the centre of the International St. Patrick’s Day celebrations on March 17th and this year will be no different. As the one national holiday that is celebrated in more countries around the world than any other, St. Patrick’s Day is the day when everyone wants to be Irish.
The first St. Patrick’s Festival was held on March 17th 1996, and took place over one day and one night. It has since grown to a four or five day celebration. This year the Festival will take place between the 14th and the 18th of March.
The highlight of the Festival is of course the St. Patrick’s Day Parade which takes place on the 17th of March starting at 12noon from The Hugh Lane Gallery on Parnell Square. The Festival Parade is a monumental occasion for Ireland and boasts an unforgettable atmosphere with visitors from all over the world tuning in. The Festival and its procession are on track to charm a record breaking number of attendees this year.
