The legendary folk singer-songwriter Don McLean will be settling in for an incredible six nights at Dublin’s Vicar Street this summer. Writer and performer of a slew of hits songs, including the perennially popular coming-of-age tune American Pie, his several-decade career has been nothing short of amazing.
A National Academy of Popular Music Songwriters’ Hall of Fame inductee as well as the recipient of the BBC Folk Music Lifetime Achievement Award, McLean has never been one to rest on the laurels of his considerable talent. Performing on the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival in 2011, his updated rendition of American Pie – performed with multiple extra choruses – was much talked about. In 2014, the veteran musician played in front of a crowd of 30,000 at the Stagecoach Festival – one of America’s premier country music events.
Now, he’ll be spending some time in our fair city for a run of shows that are sure to warm the heart.
