Pipeworks Organ Recital

February 21 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

| Free

Event Navigation

This February, award-winning organist Fergal Caulfield takes to Ireland’s National Concert Hall to perform music by the man who stimulated a renaissance of English music in the early 20th century, Edward Elgar.

Edward Elgar composed much of the wind quintet music for which he is most famous on the organ while he worked as a church organist.

At this Pipeworks Organ Recital you’ll hear Elgar’s only compositions specifically written for unaccompanied organ: (1857-1934) Vesper Voluntaries, Op.14 (1890) (18’), (1857-1934) Organ Sonata No.2, Op.87a (1933 – arranged from the Severn Suite by Ivor Atkins) (15’).

Soak in the grand ideas that this innovator had as his bold, romantic, and internationally recognised music washes over you at the National Concert Hall on February 23rd.
