For the Irish women’s rugby team, 2017 started with much promise but ultimately ended in great disappointment. Having set up a Grand Slam decider with England for the last round of the Six Nations after four wins in a row, a game that was extremely tight at half-time slipped away from them in the second half and ended with a heavy defeat.
Following that, the team underperformed in the World Cup in the summer and eventually finished eighth. Their performance was made all the more disappointing by the fact that it was being hosted in Ireland and the team had been optimistic of achieving a strong performance.
Given that, the 2018 Six Nations will give the team and new coach Adam Griggs the perfect opportunity to put their disappointments behind them. Last year the team earned a handsome victory in Italy and you can cheer them on as they attempt to do the same this year at Donnybrook Stadium
